Micheal Essien, who played over 250 times for the Blues, had been without a club since he left Panathinaikos in 2016. He has joined Persib in Indonesia on an initial one-year deal
Michael Essien has returned to football with Indonesian side Persib Bandung.
The former Chelsea midfielder has signed a one-year deal with his new club, with the option of extending further. He will wear the No.5 shirt for his new club, just as he did for Chelsea.
Essien told Persib’s official website: “I hope I am the prelude to other world players moving to Indonesia.
“Hopefully this is a good beginning for Indonesian football and also for Persib.
“Thank you for bringing me here. I’m excited and want to give my best.”
