It’s fair to say Memphis Depay has hit the ground running since joining Lyon from Manchester United, but there was no running required in his latest effort for the Ligue 1 side!
Having already bagged a goal in Lyon’s thumping of Toulouse, the Dutchman, spotting Alban Lafont off his line, picked up the ball on the halfway line before driving a shot high over the keeper’s head.
“I didn’t even see the ball go in, I just heard everyone go crazy,” Depay told Canal Plus.
“I’d tried one like that a few years ago and it hit the bar. I saw the goalkeeper was playing off his line in the first half and I kept that in the back of my mind.”
The result moves Lyon into fourth place, two ahead of fierce rivals Marseille, in Ligue 1.
